According to a company release, the new hair-loss treatment was developed by the pharmaceutical company that is owned by Pristiq, Inc.
Pristiq is the current brand name for the brand-name Propecia, which is also sold under the brand name Proscar.
Pristiq will continue to manufacture the drugs in a separate dosage form, which has been introduced for the treatment of hair loss in men over the age of 18. The new drug will only be available by prescription, but the Food and Drug Administration has approved it as a treatment for male pattern hair loss.
